Author assessment and pedagogical considerations:
“Every Day an Alleluia” is a joyous, upbeat duet originally composed for euphonium, tuba, and piano. In considering performance, this is the perfect introduction for young, collegiate level musicians to experience chamber music in a trio setting. The piano part is highly accessible for almost any piano major and the solo parts as just as accessible. The only foreseeable challenge comes from the changing meter. Familiarization with the piece will combat the changing meters. The range is accessible to almost any undergraduate tuba or euphonium major (and horn).
This piece is also available with horn, tuba, and piano, or two tubas and piano. The version with two tubas is in the key of G major, and the range poses quite a bit more challenge for both tubists. The version with horn is in the same key as the original (Bb major) and doesn’t pose any major challenges for the horn.
